About Captain Jesse Quinalty
Jesse Quinalty is a Master Instructor and the owner of Red Helmet Training in Southern California which houses four classrooms and a command training center. He specializes in Company Officer Training as well as table top and digital fire simulations. He is a Captain with the San Bernardino County Fire Department working in Division 6 and was the Operations and Training Captain at his previous department.

Jesse began his Fire Service adventure as a Fire Explorer with the San Bernardino City Fire Department when he was 15 years of age. A few years later he became a Paid Call Firefighter with the San Bernardino County Fire Department. Jesse spent two seasons with the U.S. Forest Service on an engine crew in the San Bernardino National Forest. He also did a season with CDF out in Yucca Valley. He then became a Limited Term Firefighter for the San Bernardino County Fire Department.

In 2002 he was hired as an Engineer with the Twentynine Palms Fire Department. His career greatly expanded at this new department and he spent time managing and creating several programs and projects. In 2003 he was designated the department Training Officer and became the Senior Advisor for Fire Explorer Post #229. In 2005 he was promoted to Captain and continued his duties in Training, as well as taking on overseeing the PCF's and Reserve Firefighters. In 2008 he was assigned to the position of Operations and Training Captain. During the time Jesse taught many California State Fire Marshal classes and became a registered Master Instructor. He also taught fire technology at Copper Mountain College, Santa Ana College and at Twentynine Palms High School through the Regional Occupation Program.

Jesse was hired by the Upland Fire Department in 2010 as a Captain. He continues to teach classes throughout the fire service and co-founded Red Helmet Training. He is a member of the San Bernardino County Training Officers' Association and has helped with coordinating the annual
wildland preparedness drill, the company officer academy, the captain's assessment center workshop and created the 2011 RT-130 refresher.

He has presented at several conferences including the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC), Firehouse World San Diego, Firehouse Expo Nashville, the California Fire EMS and Disaster Expo or CFED West, the California Training Officers Symposium, the Springfield Ohio IAFF annual conference and the Virginia Fire Rescue Conference.

Jesse has also been fortunate to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. He has been the Incident Commander for multiple structure fires and other incidents, including city-wide flooding during two monsoon storms. He was involved in a burnover during the Sawtooth Incident and credited with saving the engine crew with his command presence.
